All about our adventures in Oz.

House Progress

Well, we’ve had a major spot of good fortune with this one. The person buying our house hasn’t yet managed to sell his own but is going to continue with the purchase at the beginning of April regardless. What this means is that we’ll rent our house from the new buyer until we’re ready to

A general update

Ok, so the visa lodgement stuff is hard, complicated, and – well – tiresome. But there’s other practical stuff that needs to be done too. We’ve had quite a bit of change recently – I changed jobs at the beginning of this month and, because of the location of the office, I’ve been getting the

Panic! No Panic.

Well, had a brief moment of AAAAAAAARGHness yesterday. A bloke on a forum said that his migration agent had said that the class 136 visa had been deprioritised and the processing was running eight months behind. We’re on a category 138 visa which is quite similar but fortunately, our agent has reassured us it’s not

Not much happening

And it’s likely to stay this way for a while. Our sponsor has gone out and bought bunk beds for the boys and is busily getting their room ready! In the meantime, we’re really just sitting waiting for things to progress. The people who’re buying our house still haven’t signed the missives, so our solicitor

It’s madness – madness, I tell you!

The Polis

Well, we both have a gut feeling that we’ll be asked for medicals and police certificates in the next month. This may be wishful thinking on our part. The police certificates can take 40 days to arrive and are valid for one year after arrival. The date on the police / medical documents determines how

Rushing about…

Mrs Me is popping in to our solicitors today to discuss missives on the house sale. All appears to be going very smoothly, so we’re hoping it stays that way. There’s nothing but silence on the visa front, but that’s to be expected. Next week is my last week at my current employer, so I’ve

Lists!

Well, the survey has been carried out by our prospective purchasers and the surveyor indicated no problems, so I expect the ’subject to survey’ offer will be replaced by a firm one next week. Our purchaser was also telling us that he has a buyer pretty much lined up for his place, so things appear

Addendum

We now have an entry date set for the new purchasers. It’s tentatively placed at 7th April. Obviously, because we’re not buying, we can be pretty flexible about it, but April is good for us. Its all very exciting really!

Relief!

We spent all day Saturday and half of Sunday frantically cleaning and sweeping in preparation for potential purchasers coming to view our house. The good news is that it’s sold! We came to an agreement on price. We’re absolutely delighted as we’ve hit the amount we wanted for it, and it’s happened early on too.
