And it was ACE! It was a little on the short side (just over five hours) and I got the sad ending (I must have missed a bit of D’s past somewhere), but it was still TEH GRATE.

One minor complaint it a five hour completion time on a 30 quid game - that’s six quid an hour. Fortunately, game’s 10 day rental^H^H^H^H^H^Hreturns policy means it can be neatly swapped for something else. Being an adventure game, it’s unlikely that I’ll play through it again.

But - for what it was, I loved it - a great story with nice puzzles and a few real flashes of genius.

9 hours, 37 minutes is how long it takes. What that time doesn’t include, however, is at least two hours spent on multiple attempts to scale two very irritating spinny poles with blades on while in Hades. That was very very annoying.

An excellent game, if a little short - reminded me a lot of Republic Commando inasmuch as I spent a long time trying to get somewhere and then when I did, the game just stopped.

Doubt very much if I’ll play it again, though.

Incidentally, for those timid about pulling off complex combos - I managed to finish the whole thing, with everything powered up to max, purely by mashing buttons :)

I dunno why everyone slates this game. It’s ACEBEST. Alright, so it’s basically a horizontally scrolling beat-em-up but in 3D, but it’s with LIGHTSABRES and FORCE EVILNESS and tons of unlockable characters.

I suspect my youngest lad is a bit of a jedi ninja though, cos he keeps gubbing me in multiplayer. Anyway, I’m at the point where Anakin has gone all googly-eyed and sarcastic (it seems that sarcasm is a trait of the Dark Side - I wonder if I’ll get Force-Sarcasm mapped onto the black controller button at some point) and has been sent off to the lava place, the name of which currently escapes me, to dispatch the trade federation leaders. Which is nice.

In the main game, you only fight as either anakin or obi-wan, but in the multiplayer versus mode (there’s also a co-op mode) you get to fight as any of the characters you’ve unlocked - including (so far) General Grevious, Count Dooku, Mace Windu, etc. I’m hoping Yoda will be fighting alongside Obi Wan in the next level or two - he would be ace to unlock.

There are also a pile of bonus missions that can be unlocked - rumours are that one of these is old-obi wan and Darth Vader doing old-man fighting on t’Death Star. That would be very cool.

And, two hours later, I discovered there was. It’s ace. But It’s very very short.

w00t! Destroyed the seperatists ship, so onto next area. Done: short outdoor Geonisis area. Longer indoor geonosis area. Short derelict indoor area. Short Kashyyk indoor area.

Credits.

“What?” you cry?

Fecking CREDITS.

Game c0mplet0rat0red. 7 hours on the the clock. Seven hours. That’s seven. One more than six and one less than eight.

Seven.

Big climatic fight? No. Big story resolution no. Big cliff hanger to get me to buy the next game? Yup. Will I be buying the next game? Not a chance in hell.

Very annoyed and very disappointed. Completing a game is a good feeling - but not when you think you’re only completing a section about a third of the way through.

Ok, so I wasn’t going to play anything from the Episode III bits until I’d seen the movie, because I didn’t want any spoilers. Then, I had an epiphany. Hang on, thought I - it’s a George Lucas movie. What am I going to spoil? Bad dialogue and predictable plots? I doubt it. Why do I go to see Star Wars movies? Lightsabres! Will Lego Star Wars spoil lightsabres for me? Nope, not at all. Took about 8 hours, all in.

So, it’s a nice little game and it’s appealing to my collecty-bone. Must. Get. More. Coins. Must. Unlock. Everything. In. The. Whole. Universe. Etc.

Faberoonies.

Also been playing the odd bit of Banjo Kazooie, which is - as everyone knows - just ace.
