I’ve started case five. But I don’t want to ! Cos once I’ve done it, the game will be finished! Waaaaah! Anyway, it’s not just the Attorney who is ACE – the game is ACESEXBEST!
So, another murder. Better get some investigation done then!
Archive for December, 2005I’ve started case five. But I don’t want to ! Cos once I’ve done it, the game will be finished! Waaaaah! Anyway, it’s not just the Attorney who is ACE – the game is ACESEXBEST! So, another murder. Better get some investigation done then! Case 4 – CLOSED! It ended up being two trials at the same time and I even had to cross examine a parrot! (No, really!) Anyhoo, all went well in the end and the credits rolled – taking me to the end of the original GBA game. Then – case 5 UNLOCK0RED! Woohoo! Sadly, though, case 5 is the last one Well, the final day of investigation is done. I feel that I have very little to actually go on in terms of hard evidence. Lots of opinions, facts and stories, but not a lot in the way of physical proof. I’m dreading the final day because von Karma really creeps me out. Of course, the fact that he’s just come at me with a stun gun really doesn’t help either. Phew! Well, I survived the second day in court – it was a bit hairy at the start, but I started to make some progress towards the end. I’m pretty sure I’ve got Edgeworth off the hook (or at least I was until I spoke to him in the lobby afterwards) but I have another day of investigation and another day in court ahead before the fat lady sings. I’m now off on holiday for two whole weeks! Huzzah! I managed to rid myself of this addiction about 11 months ago. Sadly, all the guys on uk.games.video.handheld who imported the US Nintendo DS version have been doing my nut in. I’m not importing it because I just know it’ll eat all my spare time and I already have $hilariouslylargemadeupnumber games to play. I’m waiting for the UK release next year. Course, there’s no harm in having a little poke at the Cube version – you know, just to remind myself that it’s all behind me. Three hours later and I’ve managed to clear most of the weeds that have sprouted over the past 11 months, raised about 10k in bells to repay Nook-the-crook, and got obsessed about turnips all over again. What was I thinking? Anyway, I’ve written letters to the few animals who haven’t left to apologise for my inexcusable absence. And tomorrow, I’m off looking for the turnip man. Aha! The plot thickens, but some aspects are beginning to become clear. I’ve now finished the second round of investigation, and am ready for the second day in court. Firstly, I spent a while interrogating-by-proxy some demented old bloke who only seems able to communicate via his parrot. He’s going to be testifying as well. I wonder if his parrot will be in court…. I also managed to blag access to the police records for a fifteen year old case which is heavily linked with the current case. Unfortunately, it’s statutory thingy expires in two days time, so I suspect I now have two cases to prove rather than one. I suspect, though, that I know who the dottery old bloke is. Given the state of him, though, I’m not sure knowing it going to help. Bizarrely, I ‘m actually dreading the court session because von Karma makes me really tense :-/ I do feel sorry for poor Edgeworth though (even though his *is* just a drawing). He’s had a pretty hard time of it. Well that was….. odd. So, yesterday’s star witness has some information that she wants to trade. Yes, trade. The thing is, the lake where the murder happened has been all over the press as the home of some kind of Nessie style sea monster called Gourdy. Yesterday’s witness wants to find said monster – so has insisted that I do it in exchange for information. So, today I have been mainly using my investigative genius to look for a mythical sea creature. And I guess I found it too! Which is just as well, because the ex-witness has revealed a fairly cracking piece of information that should make day two in court, if not easier, a little less frightening. I have a resource leak on one of our live servers. It’s not seriously serious, but it’s certainly seriously annoying. The box in question is running a dozen or so pretty busy services and has an uptime of a shade over 577 days. And something has it 270K into the swap. Not a big issue, no. There’s plenty of physical unallocated buffer RAM available. There are no overly large processes. There’s just 270K. Sitting there. Lurking. In the swap partition. Except tomorrow, it’ll likely be 270K. Cos it grows. And lurks. A reboot would fix it, but I aint rebooting a box with that kind of uptime for a 270+(n, n=number of days after today)K annoyance. It’ll be fecking perl, I knows it. All the cronjobs are terminating properly. There are no stuck or zombie processes. Everything is behaving as it should. If I turn off swap and then bring it back up again. It goes away. But then it comes back. Starting at 270K. Building by 1K per day. Every day. And I swear it’s smirking at me Just had time for a quick go today because it was really cold in the car. Edinburgh isn’t the best place for semi-outdoor activities. Anyway, I managed to bail Maya our of prison (it’s a long story) – or rather Edgeworth did. I had a quick snoop about the crime scene and had a word with Detective Gumshoe (who is looking even more hangdog than usual). Other than that, it’s going to have to wait until this evening. Phew! I’ve survived the first day of trial, but only just. Ol’ Edgeworth was a walk in the park compared to Hell-fiend von Karma. I’ve managed to expose the star witness as a bit of a crank, but there’s a new witness (who I know nothing about) giving evidence in the morning. Gaaah. Still, got another bout of investigation to do before then. |
