Tum te tum. Ever have one of those indescribably bad fortnights at work? Rubbish, aren’t they? The company I work for is in the gruesome throes of acquiring another, meaning we have to punt all their sites across to our servers. Trouble is, the new company host on Windows 2000 and we host on UNIX. Which means we’ve had to set up a Windows 2000 server as a temporary stop gap until we can get the sites ported across to a platform that isn’t flakey and full of security holes. Lovely.

Anyway, enough of work (cos it’s really not that interesting), and back to the interesting (!) stuff. Debbie’s Animal Crossing habit is picking up steam – it’s an hour a day at present, and looks like it may be growing. I, on the other hand, have been nursing an unhealthy “Golden Sun” addition on the GBA while continuing to nurture my Zelda problem on the Cube. Gak.

Tristan is pretty much full time (bar an afternoon) at school, now, which is splendid – he’s really pleased with himself (and we’re pleased with him as well). Matthew is, erm, five. And a very aggressive five – we think he’s copying Harmony. Littly Dotty is just little Dotty – obviously female, as she has all the males in the family exactly where she wants them. Harrumph.

Not a huge amount of stuff been happening – oh, except we managed to find a peach in Animal Crossing. I planted it, to grow a peach tree, and then inadvertantly chopped it down :-z C’est la Vie

Animal Crossing Box Art Animal Crossing is truly addictive. There is something endearing about all the little characters. You say – OK, Ill just pop in to check my mail – then suddenly you look at your watch and youve been there for an hour. You have to speak to all your friends or else they go in the huff and me being the sensitive soul I am and the animals being incredibly cute, you talk to the whole village!!! Its a seriously cutesy game.

We were having a rummage around on Ebay (no, we haven’t learned from the Ducky adventure) and stumbled across a guy who deals in Terrapi slavery :( He keeps all kinds of Terrapis in captivity, to sell as collectors items and they never get played with or cuddled or anything. Anyway, while looking through the site, Debbie came across a sad looking little Terrapi turtle that’s never been loved so we had no choice but to buy it. Tristan and Matthew had on little sad faces when they saw it, but they brightened up when they realised it was coming to live with us. So, we’re setting up a Terrapi sanctuary where all the unloved Terrapis of the world can come to seek refuge. And quite right too.

Well, truth be told, I was back at work yesterday but it was a bit mad. One of the boxes in a cluster that we host decided to go a bit nuts and had to be resucitated. Problem is, the beggar is hosted at the other end of the country, so it all had to be done remotely. Still, it’s decomissioned for the time being.

So, how progresses the lurgi, eh? Well, it seems to be clearing up. Tristan, Harmony, and Debbie still have a nasty chest infection left over from it, but hopefully it’ll shift by the weekend.

Spend most of last night (much to Debbie’s dismay) lpaying BloodRayne on the Xbox. It’s a very silly game indeed, where you play an incredibly fast and powerful buxom vampire thingy and have to run about biting Nazis. Yes, well. It’s very entertaining in a gruesome sort of way.

But, we won’t be playing tonight, because tonight is Buffy night! Hooray! etc! etc!

Poor Matthew had it worst – a raging fever that refused to break resulted in him spendingmost of Saturday in the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. The problem with these viruses is that they go through everyone like wildfire, but us parents just have to get on with looking after ill children as if we were fine, even though we’re just as ill. Gak.
